The Land Beneath Us ~ Sarah Sundin

This is the 3rd book in the Sunrise at Normandy series.  This book takes place in 1941 during the war and D-day.  Leah is one of those characters that tug at your heart, from her past, present and wondering what the future will hold?  Leah is a librarian at Camp Forge and working on getting some peace with her past when one night she is viciously attacked and raped.  Private Clay Paxton comes to her rescue and saves her from the attack.  When Leah finds out the attack leaves her pregnant, Clay makes the decision to marry her.  They both are under the agreement that both get something out of the marriage.  Clay will get his families name sake carried on (he thinks he will die in war) and Leah will receive Clay's benefits that will take care of the baby and her.  Will this last? Is this relationship really going to way God wants it to be?  Will both be able to have forgiveness and faith to get through this ........

I would recommend this to anyone that likes to read about history and romance.  This book has great details about the war and living in the days during 1941.  The story about how Clay steps up and helps Leah and how Leah overcomes all the trials and tribulations; this shows how deep your faith is and that with GOD's understanding, grace and forgiveness what you can overcome in life.  Even though this is book 3 it can be read as a stand alone, as I have not read book 1 or 2 and read this one without having any problems about following the book.  But, I would now like to read the first 2 books just to get the background.
