MORE ABOUT WHY I WROTE ANNA’S SECRET
I am a hopeless romantic, it has been at the core of my being from a child up. I dreamed of a love that would whisk me far from the pain of my childhood upbringing.
When I first started to write Anna’s Secret, I had not yet learned all I needed to know about forgiveness. I was half-way through the book when sorrow and betrayal hit my marriage. (See “About Me” at https://blossomturner.com) I stopped writing for years.
However, as God healed the broken and restored my soul, words of love once again danced within my being. God directed that I finish this book weaving in all I learned from the crucible of suffering in her own life. Through understanding the restorative power of God’s forgiveness when humanity fails, I wrote Anna’s Secret with a strong thread of hope woven into its fabric.
Readers have expressed the authenticity has brought them to tears, given them a love story that entertained, but the part I love the most … Anna’s Secret has inspired some readers to ask God for the help to forgive themselves, or ask Him for power to offer the gift of forgiveness to another.
My prayer is that you will find Anna’s Secret an entertaining romance, inspiration to your soul, and that you will enjoy the happy ending … always a happy ending. After all, God is the God of happily ever after, and heaven is the home in which all His children will find the greatest love of all.

Cold Case Connection ~ Dana Mentink

This is book 3 of the Roughwater Ranch Cowboys series. Dana Mentink does a great job with writing this murder mystery.  When 5 teenagers go into the towns tunnels (that they are told to stay out of) to explore one of them ends up dead.  It ends up been a cold case as the suspects are found not guilty.   Then a few years later when Fiona goes into looking for the murderer again, she ends up dead.  Now 15 years later and Helen, being one of the 5 original friends, needs to deal with the grief and starts to investigate.  Then we have Sergio the brother of the victim and he decides to take his anger of the death and look into what happend that night.  Along with Helen and Sergio the drama and adventure begins.  Through the hunting of clues, many mysterious things keep happening, could this be related to the two previous deaths??

I would recommend this to anyone that wants a good drama, mystery, romance to read.  It is a short read, but keeps moving with many twist and turns.  I am a fan of Dana and this is the first mystery that I have read of hers.  I was excited to read this because I loved her previous books Sit, Stay, Love and Paws for love.. great books about dogs.... also great reads.  I was very pleased at how Dana can pull of the different types of books that she has written, very impressed.  I also liked how she incorporated Jingles into this book.  Great Read!!  (I have not read the other books in the series and was able to read this as a stand alone.)

In this novel, Helen has to relive the worst moment of her teenage life, the night when a mysterious murder occurred during a teen prank. More from Shirley

New beginnings are a regular part of life. Sometimes they are well planned, and we eagerly anticipate the future. At other times, we are reticent to move forward into the new beginning. As we think about new beginnings it is appropriate for us to look at the beginning of God’s Word—the Bible.
In Genesis 1:1 ESV, we read, In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Here God is the subject, as He is the subject of the entire Bible. From this verse we learn something very important about God—He existed before the universe was created. God has always been, is now, and will always be, present.
Next, we learn that from nothing God created the universe and everything within it. He is the holy, sovereign, majestic, powerful, all-knowing God.
Every time I read these first few verses of the Bible, I am amazed that with just four little words, Let there be light (verse 3), the Creator God spoke into existence light that drove away the darkness. What astounding power! From these verses, we learn that God is the Author of light. Other places in Scripture tell us that God is light itself (1 John 1:5), and James calls Him the Father of lights (James 1:17).
Think about it: here we are today, many years since God spoke those four little words, Let there be light, and as John tells us, The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (John 1:5). The Light—God—brings clarity, order, and understanding, while darkness is seen as evil, void, and chaotic.
I watched the coverage of a solar eclipse on several websites. It was so interesting to listen as a myriad of scientists and others explained the wonders of the universe, and while the science behind it all was quite interesting to me, the coverage fell flat. Why? Because it was totally devoid of any mention of Creator God. Only one man explained the solar eclipse through the lens of God’s Word. As he explained the science behind the solar eclipse, he also explained that THE God of the Universe who created everything that we see, holds the entire universe in His hands, and controls everything that happens, including a solar eclipse.
In the midst of a new beginning or anything else going on in your life, the truths in these passages are wonderful reminders that we can step confidently into any new beginning as we trust in the God who was here in the beginning, is here with us now, and who will be with us always. And what a comfort it is to remember that the light of God dispels the darkness and chaos of sin.

Childhood ~ Greg Schaffer

This is not really a book, it is more of a preview of the book to come..... It is more of a commercial (as they say in tv or one of those see what is to come previews at the end of a book).  The setting is about Katie and her life from grade 4 to college.  It tells of Katie and her two friends, Lynn and Joey.  There isn't much to review about, it is so small of a book, it could be combined into a full chapter of the book to come.

I did like the story line, the last chapter was interesting unfortunately, I would not spend money on purchasing this book (7.99 paperback on Amazon, .99 price for kindle (maybe if you have Fatherhood to read after it).  I didn't like how it just ends and leaves you hanging making you have to purchase the next book to find out what this story is really about.  If Fatherhood, the full novel of this book was attached to this book it would be good. As a stand alone I feel it is just teasing you......

Note** On Amazon 7.99 for paperback (only 50 pages in the whole book) and .99 price for kindle which may be ok if you have "Fatherhood" to read after it.

More from Greg

My last novel Leaving Darkness was difficult to write. I felt called to showcase depression and how the trusting environment of Christian small groups can lead those lost in the darkness to the light of the life they are meant to live. The novel was a direct response to a God-calling to apply my skills as an author and my experience leading similar type groups to create a story that may serve to help some who feel hopelessly lost.
For the next novel, I waited for a similar calling. And waited. And waited. I tend to be impatient like most. I wanted to get back to the creative process.
I wound up waiting several months. God’s time, not mine.
Then it happened, through an article I read on the Internet about a man suing a clinic for aborting his child without his knowledge. The article delved into the father’s rights in the abortion decision.
Abortion from the father’s point of view. That was the calling.
Very early into the project, though, I realized I had unintentionally created a problem. If I told the story completely from the father’s point of view, the mother’s would be diminished, reduced to a two-dimensional interpretation as seen through the father’s eyes. I could solve that by including both points of view in the novel, but that wouldn’t work well for two reasons: first, there are plot elements that the mother knows that are best kept from the readers as part of establishing tension. Second, as noted before, the project calling is from the father’s point of view. I had to stay within that.
But how to deal with the problem?
That’s when Childhood was born (no pun intended). Childhood is a novelette from the mother’s point of view, following her growth as a person from fourth grade to her first year of college. Through Childhood, readers have the opportunity to understand the character as a protagonist who would then become the antagonist in the novel Fatherhood.

Grandparenting with a purpose ~ Lillian Penner

This is the revised and expanded copy from previously in 2015.  Lillian sets the book up that can be read, used as a devotional or weekly bible study.  It is about praying for your grandchildren and putting God's word into your everyday life.  She covers many subjects relating to prayers for your grandchildren, questions as a study guide and a prayer at the end of each chapter.

I don't have grand kids or children and I found this book very interesting and was able to change the word grandchildren to family, friends or a personal name that I could relate to the subject.  I really enjoyed this book of how updated the info is, Lillian cover a section on culture and everyone could read this and relate it to today's world.  I like how she came up with a book just for grandparents, but I also think she could do another version to reach out to others.  Lillian did a very good job and this book would be great for Bible study groups, any reading group that has a mix of grandparents and parents would be really interesting to discuss this book.  I was very glad I was able to review this book as I would not have picked this out to read, but so glad I did.... very good information.

Finding Joy in Praying for my Grandchildren
What a joy it is to have that precious little grandchild come running into your arm with hugs and kisses. The six-year-old calling to tell you she lost her first tooth or your seven-year-old grandson excited about making his first goal in his soccer game.
In addition to senior discounts, grandchildren are one of the rewards of growing older. Mary H. Waldrip says it well, “Grandchildren are God’s way of compensating us for growing old.”
I now have nine grandchildren, ages ranging from sixteen years to thirty-eight years, four are married, and we have five great-granddaughters. As a long-distance grandmother for many years, I was not fully aware of my grandchildren’s immediate needs. I prayed that God would bless them, give them good health and protection. Ultimately, I became frustrated and felt something was lacking with my vague and general prayers. I asked God to show me how to become more deliberate in praying for them.
After reading books about grandparenting and prayer full of practical advice, I was encouraged to use specific Scriptures in praying for my grandchildren. The books motivated me to pray regularly for their emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.
Best of all, praying God’s Word has enabled me to pray with His power, direction, and wisdom. As their grandparent, I can have a significant role in influencing their lives by praying for them during these turbulent years has given me fulfillment and satisfaction in praying for them.
The faith of our children is weakened in the classrooms; young adults raised in our hostile environment are walking away from God in record numbers. Hopelessness is prevalent, and our society is reeling from the opioid crisis, mass shootings, fatherlessness, divorce, and so much more.
Recognizing the urgent need for my grandchildren’s spiritual needs God gave me a passion of praying Scripture for my grandchildren. I felt God wanted me to share my passion with other grandparents so I wrote the book Grandparenting with a Purpose: Effective Ways to Pray for your Grandchildren about ten years ago. It has blessed and encouraged many grandparents. This past year I felt God wanted me to revise and expand the book, so I added the following chapters with a study guide for each chapter.
  • I have found there are many hurting estranged grandparents today with heavy hearts, so I am addressing that issue in a chapter. Is your grandparenting Painful or a blessing?
  • I include a section looking at a view of the culture our grandchildren and their parents are navigating today.
  • God’s Design for grandparenting plus several additional chapters and Scriptures to Pray for Teens and Scriptures for Grandparents to pray for themselves.
The book retails for $14.99. However, it is available for a discounted price of $15.00, including shipping and handling costs in the U. S. for a limited time.  A bonus of a Scriptural Prayer resource will be included with your purchase. The book is available in EBook format for $3.99 for those who would prefer the EBook format or live outside the U. S. to save on shipping costs.
This book will challenge you and give you resources for the spiritual battle with the enemy. It will show you how to be an intentional disciple-maker and prayer warrior to impact the next generation.

Yes Sisters ~ Angelia L. White

This is a book about getting to a point in your life of having friends that are encouraging and comforting.  Angelia uses stories of situations in her own life, gives us a deep explanation of how to handle the situation and then a word (letter) from a soul sister about her experience in each chapter.  With this book she teaches us of how to be a Yes Sister, to bring your friends along side of you when they are hurting.  It gives steps to take of how to encourage and have that soul sister friendship.

I would recommend this to any age women that needs and wants to be with others that give nurturing, share feelings, encouragement, and share their faith with each other, no matter what.  It is a book that talks about having confidence to not have negative people or friends that bring you down.  It is an inspirational read to help women with their relationships with others.  It would be a great women's bible study or a small group of women read.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Books. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions expressed are my own. The Basic Bible Atlas ~ John A. Beck

This book covers the history of the land that Jesus walked and the area his people lived in.  This is a book with history of maps, charts, timelines of the seasons and climate.  Each chapter covers subjects that allows you to vision the bible more in a understanding way.  The pages are very colorful and detailed, the illustrations cover information from the Ark's travels, Temple's, how the land was sectioned out, where the food source came from.  It give detailed history to read and then a picture of the map to be able to bring in all in to a vision.

I was very impressed with this book, it covered so much that I just never imagined.  I was amazed at the history and how it looked on the maps.  The maps were so colorful and detailed that I couldn't stop looking and reading this book.... I keep picking it back up and just realizing the journey was in a small area where all our history begins.  This book covers the whole area of the bible, it is a great reference book, it can be used for daily reading, bible study, teaching history and so much more..... the pages are on heavy stock paper to hold up for years and many page turns.

The Land Beneath Us ~ Sarah Sundin

This is the 3rd book in the Sunrise at Normandy series.  This book takes place in 1941 during the war and D-day.  Leah is one of those characters that tug at your heart, from her past, present and wondering what the future will hold?  Leah is a librarian at Camp Forge and working on getting some peace with her past when one night she is viciously attacked and raped.  Private Clay Paxton comes to her rescue and saves her from the attack.  When Leah finds out the attack leaves her pregnant, Clay makes the decision to marry her.  They both are under the agreement that both get something out of the marriage.  Clay will get his families name sake carried on (he thinks he will die in war) and Leah will receive Clay's benefits that will take care of the baby and her.  Will this last? Is this relationship really going to way God wants it to be?  Will both be able to have forgiveness and faith to get through this ........

I would recommend this to anyone that likes to read about history and romance.  This book has great details about the war and living in the days during 1941.  The story about how Clay steps up and helps Leah and how Leah overcomes all the trials and tribulations; this shows how deep your faith is and that with GOD's understanding, grace and forgiveness what you can overcome in life.  Even though this is book 3 it can be read as a stand alone, as I have not read book 1 or 2 and read this one without having any problems about following the book.  But, I would now like to read the first 2 books just to get the background.

Thinking like a Boss ~ Kate Crocco

This book is a self help book about be confident and following your dreams.  Kate gives us a work book and 12 steps to take about women taking control and getting what they want out of life and not allowing their insecurities take over.  She tells her story along with easy mind exercises and spaces in the book to write down your feelings and work on the issues you need to overcome and be successful.

I would recommend this to women who have insecurities and want to overcome what is holding them back.  Kate talks about starting a business but it is so much more, you can use this book for all the issues you have going on in life.  This book can be used for any age group and even though she talks about women in the book, men can definitely use the techniques also.  This would be great for a small group, book club, bible study or just two friends meeting each week and discussing the weeks chapter.  This is not a fast read, to get the most out of the book, take your time and think about everything in this book.  I started this book as soon as I got it and couldn't put it down... filled with very good stuff.......

Unwanted No More ~ B.J. Garrett

This book is the testimony of B.J. Garrett and is filled with feelings of heartfelt, heartbroken and God's love. What an inspirational story! B.J. doesn't hold back from telling her life story of how much she has gone through. This is a story of what people do go through and how we don't talk about the evil in our lives, the stuff that is our baggage, hidden deep within. In her story be prepared she doesn't sugar coat anything from sexual abuse, abortion, depression, feelings of lost to how she accepted God's grace and found hope and security with her faith and love for God.

I would recommend this read to adults if a teen is reading it, the parents may want to read before, due to the subject matter. This is a great book for those that have always felt that they can't step into a church or God will not love them for what they have done in their past. This book is proof, God loves us all and wants us to be with Him always. This is a quick read and B.J. does a great job of getting to the point and allowing the book to move on and not drag things out. Be warned...... once you start reading you will not be able to put it down.

All my life I have battled with feelings of being unwanted and unloved. Somewhere between the insanity of the Jerry Springer show and the emotional outcry of the Oprah show, the unbelievable redemption details of my life are unfolded onto the pages of this book. Spunky. silly, and sassy are the three words that best describe my personality. I believe the Lord gave me a love for hamburgers to make sure I never return to a life of selling my body to make ends meet. Spending time with my grand kids who are basically perfect is my favorite pastime. I love being Jay’s wife and serving beside him on the mission field. By God’s amazing grace, I have come full circle, receiving complete forgiveness and healing from a childhood full of abuse, teen pregnancy, sexual promiscuity, abortion, and working in the sex industry. If the Lord can use a story like mine, rest assured He will use a story like yours! If like me, you have ugly in your past, I want to encourage you that no matter what you have done, no matter what has been done to you, there is hope and healing through Jesus Christ.

About the Author

Praying her story gives God glory, award-winning author Caryl McAdoo continues prolificity with her new Cross Timbers Romance Family Saga series. Readers around the world enjoy her best-selling novels and shower them with 5-Star ratings galore. With forty-eight titles—and counting—her love for writing is obvious; the lady loves singing the new songs the Lord gives her as well! (Check out YouTube). Caryl gave Ron four children and the couple shares eighteen grandsugars. The McAdoos live in the woods south of Clarksville, the seat of Red River County, in far Northeast Texas, waiting expectantly for God to open the next door.

More from Caryl

As my second family saga series—Cross Timbers Romance—grows, and the children of Book One GONE TO TEXAS come into adulthood, I fall more in love with these characters. This story—Book Four in the series, LEAVIN’ TEXAS, takes readers on another wagon train that historically left right about the same time of year as its early spring setting from Red River County, heading for California in 1850.
LEAVIN’ TEXAS is Charity O’Neal’s story wherein she determines to follow her Prince Charming, Eberhart ‘Hart’ de Vecchi, to California to start her new life with him there—no matter the naysayers or rough trails ahead. But as so often is the case, our plans and those God has in place for us don’t always correlate.
Many times, we’ve prayed about it—what we want Him to do, how we expect everything to turn out—and feel certain we are in His will. I personally thank God for praying mothers, friends, and grandmothers who perhaps see us heading in a wrong direction and beseech Him to guide us in His way, not our own.
My life has benefitted from such praying women.
So does Charity O’Neal’s.
I imagine yours has as well!
I love the well-known verse in Jeremiah! “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11 Especially the ‘expected end’ part. I find great comfort in knowing His thoughts—or plans—are of peace and not evil, and that He intends to give us an expected end!
I hope you enjoy LEAVING TEXAS and will take time to review it!
BLESSINGS!

The Fifth Avenue Story Society ~ Rachel Hauck

The book starts out with the five characters personal stories and being invited to the invitations to the Fifth Avenue Story Society and not knowing why or who the invitation comes from..... leads to them all going to the meeting.  Each person has a different story from the others and start to connect to each other when they keep meeting.  When friendships develop they start to develop friendships and relationships that seem to connect in the end...

I would recommend this to any Rachel fan, if you haven't read her books you will want to start.  I like how this story ties everyone at the end.  This is a book that makes you guess where this all ties in and how they will end up.  I found myself reading through this with wanting to know who sent the invite, why they are together and where do the characters come together?   This is another great read from Rachel.

More from Tamera

History is my Passion, I love to read all genres of Christian fiction, but when I go to write, it always ends up being a Christian historical. The reason for that is I have a passion for history. I love to read about historical events, and frequently, I begin wondering what it would be like to live through those chaotic events in history. Out of that thought process, my characters and my stories take on a life of their own.
For instance, my series, Ladies of Oberlin, came out of reading about the great Christian women who advance social and spiritual movements in the late 1800s. I found over and over that the common denominator of these women was they all had a connection with Oberlin College, the first college that allow women and black to receive degrees alongside white men before the Civil War. I gained a treasure trove of research from a college only an hour away from where I lived.
As I researched Oberlin, I found out it was in the middle of every social and spiritual movement of the time. Charles Finney, the fiery Second Great Awakening evangelist, was the president of the college. Ninety percent of missionaries sent overseas between 1860 and 1900 were graduates of the college. Many of the women’s suffrage leaders, women’s educational leaders, women doctors and scholars, abolitionists, and prohibitionist leaders were from Oberlin College. At that point, I knew I wanted to tell their stories in my novels. I decided to write three stories covering three college roommates.
My first novel in the series set shortly before the Civil War was Red Sky Over America, the story of America Leighton, a woman abolitionist who was studying to become a missionary in China. She decided she couldn’t make a stand for the Gospel in China until she confronted her father to free his slaves. To make things more interesting, her love interest has plans of his own in Kentucky. The results were explosive as you can imagine.
The second in the series, released August first, is Lost in the Storm set during the Civil War. Lavena Falcon is determined to be an independent woman who advances the causes she believes in by being a journalist. Her greatest desire is to travel to where the heroic Ohio Seventh Regiment is fighting and report about these brave men. The problem is if she doesn’t get an interview with an illusive captain who doesn’t want to talk to reporters, she’ll lose her job. It doesn’t help that she’s attracted to him.
The third novel, due to release late next year, is set shortly after the Civil War in Northeast Ohio. Betsy Teagan’s husband is back from the war, but things aren’t going according to plan. He is haunted by the war and finds solace in the local saloon drinking himself into oblivion. She tries everything to help him including protesting in front of the bar.

Collision of Lies ~ Tom Threadgill

When detective Amara Alvarez over hears a conversation between a mother and father about an accident that happens years before, she feels she needs to take action.  In a small town a bus accident occurs on with a fast moving train and children end up dead.  The parents involved with the conversation have received a new clue that their child my actually be alive.  Amara wants to find out if this is true and sets out to solve the mystery and what really is going on.  Will Amara prove the child is alive and bring him back home to his parents?

I would recommend this book to ages 18 and above.  It is a fast moving, suspense/thriller read, that has many twist and turns that you can't put down.  As I only read Christian books, this one did not have a faith based message and some language that didn't have to be used.  I was still interested to finding out the truth and kept reading.  This is the first book I have read from Tom and would be tempted to pick up his next book to see if he keeps up the page turners I enjoy reading.

Girls Guide to the Outback ~ Jessica Kate

This is a romantic comedy read that will relax you and make you smile.  When Kim and Sam work together they are not always on the same page as each other.  They do have one thing in common and it is they are attracted to each other, but they don't tell each other. Sam needs to go back home to Australia due to family issues and leaves Kim alone at the ministry.  Kim has a hard time with out having Sam around and makes a deal with him.  Where does this all lead?  In addition, there is a side story of Jules (Sam's sister) and Mick (her neighbor) that ties into the story.

I would recommend this book to those that want a relaxing afternoon read.  This is a good book to read in front of a fire or an afternoon at the beach.  It is the book that you pick up and enjoy reading to find out what is going to happen.  It has that good read feeling with a little bit of laughter.

Good Grief ~ Sue Borrows LaRue

This book is very inspirational and encouraging.  Sue tells us her story of going through her journey of faith, love, sickness, depression, following God and so much more.  She teaches us that God's vision for us may not be what we want or expected, however, if you follow Him you will have many blessings.

I would recommend this book to anyone that has been touched by cancer, a caregiver or wants a very inspirational read.  Anyone that has been a caregiver will be touched by how much you can related to Sue's experience's.  If you are just beginning as a caregiver or dealing with cancer, this is a must read, as Sue gives certain experiences that are not always bought to your attention by medical care.  Certain times when going through cancer you wish someone had told you that was a side effect, the outcome or you wish you had bought certain things to the attention of healthcare, (it is ok, to call and ask about anything you have concerns about when going through treatment). This is a good read, in very good understandings that many should read as inspiration and encouragement.  We all need to thank Sue for taking us on her journey and sharing God's word.

The Creeper ~ Teresa Posey Carey

This children's book is about something in the night and is trying to find it.  The mystery is what is the creeper and what is he looking for.  Clues are found on each page and leaves you guessing to the very end.  The creeper and what he is looking for is found at the very end.  This story is a book of rhyming, mystery with clues and a very special message at the very end.

I would recommend this to parents that enjoy reading to their children and having discussions on what they read.  This is the type of book that has wonderful and colorful pages.  The part I din't like was the cover and the name was a bit scary for some little one's.  I felt the cover didn't fit the book inside, but other than that (which I can live with it) the message is one that sticks with you and the pages keep you turning.  It is a good book for those kids that just want to know and have that little bit of scariness in it.  It is a family read and could be read in a Sunday School class.

Children’s author Teresa Posey Carey took her inspiration from Dr. Seuss’ rhyming stories. A born again Christian, she hopes to honor God in all she does, including her favorite things: spending time with family and friends and writing. Hoss Cartwright, in the far northeast corner of the Lone Star State.

More from Teresa

My new children’s rhyming book The Creeper is filled with mystery and fun. Treasures with clues are strewn along it’s pages to keep children guessing up until the very end, making it a very exciting and interactive book that kids will want to hear again and again. I wrote The Creeper because of my love for rhyming verse stories and God’s word, pairing the two, The Creeper becomes a great tool for teaching children about God’s love for them as well as instilling christian values and it introduces them to essential skills known to be learned from rhyming words together and what kid doesn’t love rhyme? The Creeper is based upon the Biblical principal of Matthew 7:7-8 If ye seek ye shall surely find what ye are looking for, this is what the foundation for The Creeper is all about! I first knew that i really loved and wanted to write verse stories after taking my daughter to the local library when she was a little girl, that’s when and where we discovered Dr. Suess, One fish two fish red fish blue fish, we were both hooked and enjoyed reading all the rest of his wonderful rhyming stories, along with all the Mother goose poems and anything else we could get our hands on! I believe that God gave this gift in my life to use for glorifying him while entertaining children. What better way to do things than to use your God given gifts and talents and give back unto The Lord!

Many of those stories share a common element: “The second I saw him/her, I just knew I would marry him/her.” Every time I read or hear these stories, I chuckle. Not because I don’t believe them but because it reminds me of my own meet-cute. “Not my type.” These were the first words to enter my mind when I met the man who would later become my husband. In hindsight, they are hilarious because I know that God worked things out for our good. After more than eighteen years of marriage, I can honestly say that I am more in love with my husband than ever. However, just a few months prior to meeting my husband, I’d suffered a terrible breakup with another man whom I thought had been considering proposing to me. I had no idea the breakup was coming and that left me devastated and confused. The truths we learn in hindsight don’t help much when we’re in the midst of such circumstances. When we think we know the future before us and something happens to upend those plans it can feel as though our world has turned upside down. This is what happens to Eliza Brooks in the first chapter of my novel, Waltz in the Wilderness. Though not romantic in nature, a major shift occurs in her world that leaves her feeling betrayed and disoriented. She’s still struggling to right her world when Daniel Clarke enters her life in the worst way possible. Misunderstanding leads to a humiliating confrontation that sets these two at odds with one another before they have a chance to truly get to know each other. Fortunately for Eliza and Daniel, God works their foolishness for good just as He did in my own true love story. This Valentine’s Day, whatever your romantic relationship status, remember that you are not alone. You are loved. And the God of all the universe loves you and has a plan for you—plans to prosper you and bring you hope. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” ~ Proverbs 3:5-6

Forgotten Faith ~ Lauren Reeves

This is a book for those that want to know more about the bible or those that are searching for meaning.  This book goes through all of the Book of Genesis in great details.  This is not a book you can just pick up and read, it is a book that needs to be read at a slow and thinking pace.

Each Chapter has a subject and then deep explanation with back up bible verses.   Lauren gives examples in the form of everyday life and how you as the reader can relate to what the bible tells us.

I would recommend this book to anyone of any age.  If you want to study the Book of Genesis, this is not to be missed.  This book would be a great for a bible study group, book club or just a few friends over coffee.  One thing this book isn’t is a light read that you can just read an afternoon.  When reading this don’t rush, you need to take your time and be ready for God to speak to you through his words.  Lauren shows a lot of knowledge and did her homework for writing such a book.

About the Book

Book: Forgotten Faith
Author: Lauren Reeves
Genre: Non-fiction/Christian Devotional
Release Date: December 20, 2019

When Christians are challenged to explain what they believe and why, too many fall short. Do the majority of Christians feel true commitment to their faith anymore? Are they able to retain hope and perseverance when trials come? Or do they find themselves questioning God’s goodness? We live in a time where Christians seem to have forgotten their once strong faith.

In her book Forgotten Faith, popular podcaster and speaker Lauren Reeves teaches Genesis in a way that keeps her reader wanting more. She provides the foundation necessary to make the rest of the Bible make sense long after this book’s last page is turned. From cover to cover, the believer will find a fascinating study of Genesis and that Genesis and Revelation go hand in hand, painting a picture of the End Times and the reason for hope. The content has the ability to do for readers what might otherwise take years of study to unveil.

Forgotten Faith seeks to uncover treasures in Genesis that have long been hidden away, treasures that are relevant to today and the End of Days and have been waiting for the right time to be known—and the time is now.
Behold, I am coming soon . . . I am the Alpha and Omega,
the first and the last, the beginning and the end.
Revelation 22:12–13

More from Lauren

Why did I write this book? Because I’ve often been told that learning and understanding Genesis is the foundation for the rest of the Bible. Much of the Christian worldview can be found there, which effects our decision making. But Genesis not only lays the foundation for the rest of the Bible, it is closely linked with Revelation, the last book in the Bible. Just about every time I’ve asked a Bible study group what they would like to learn about next, one of the number one answers was always “Revelation” or “End Times Events.” Even though for years people have been hungry to learn more about Revelation, most Christians and churches try to steer clear of this subject because the end times plan can be intimidating and is not 100 percent clear from Jesus’s revelation to John in that book. Since differing opinions often cause dissension, people understandably avoid areas of the Bible that aren’t absolutely clear. However, I believe those words would not have been given to us to read if we were supposed to avoid studying them. For that reason, I’ve taken the risk and written a book on Genesis that ties Genesis and Revelation together helping us to understand the end times plan more clearly. One thing I hope is clear in my book, though, is you don’t have to agree with my interpretation of end times events to glean great truths and a greater understanding of the Bible through my book. One stance had to be taken to talk about the subject in detail, but truly, if a reader does not agree with my stance, it’s not a big deal. There’s way more to the book than that. The goal was to make us all think on and around Genesis and Revelation to help us study it and have opportunity for the Holy Spirit to reveal truths to us through the Word. I hope other books are written from different end times stances so we can read and study from a different angle. The more we read from different angles, the more we grow in knowledge and understanding. It is my belief that being certain that there IS an end times plan is what helps anchor the hope of Christ firmly in our souls. If we don’t have a forward view, it is so easy to get stuck in the tunnel vision of the here and now, which can often appear hopeless. So, now more than ever before, Christians need to be studying the first book of the Bible to know what we believe and the last book of the Bible to know that there is an end times plan that is sure and wonderful. I hope this book stirs your soul in a unique way. It is deep, yet devotional. I really believe it is a book for today.
