Flash ~ Rachel Anne Ridge

This book teaches you about life lessons, Faith in GOD and getting second chances in life situations.  What would you do if you found a donkey, late at night at the end of your driveway on the side of the road.  Well Rachel and her family made the decision to catch it and try to find it's family.  When no one claimed the donkey the family decides to keep the donkey.  What happens after the donkey becomes part of the family is a gift from GOD.  Rachel tells the story of how she and her family learn the lessons of testing your faith through this donkey.

Each chapter is about how GOD uses this donkey to get HIS message through to this family.  It is a funny and well told story.  I enjoyed this book because it has so many things written about that we all face in today's world and makes you think about your own situations.

I would recommend this book to anyone that wants a good entertaining, funny and faith filled book.  If you are an animal lover you will easily relate to this book. Anyone that likes to read short messages and learn of GOD's word and how he works for the better in our lives, this book is for you.

Everyday Grace ~ Jessica Thompson

This is much different then I expected as a read.  I really liked how Jessica explains to us about having God's grace in today's everyday living.  She does a great job of giving examples of situations we all go through in our daily lives.  She does a good job of backing this up with bible verses and explanations of how the Holy Spirit works in our hearts.

I would recommend this book to everyone, it is a great read for those that wonder what is God's Grace, how do we get God's Grace or if you just want God's Grace.  This is a very fulfilling and good book.

Every Bride Needs a Groom ~ Janice Thompson

~Book #1 of the Brides with Style series ~
This is a light read book, meaning you really don't need to think when reading it.  The story is about Katie who enters a contest to win the wedding dress of her dreams and wins.  Katie has been planning her dream wedding for her future only she doesn't have a boyfriend.  The book is about how she handles this situation and about her relationship with her family.

I could recommend this book as a very light, non thinking read for an afternoon that you just want to relax and read.  It was predicable and didn't have much suspense or twists and turns.  Just a fun, my so called Hallmark movie read.

Let the Journey Begin ~ Max Lucado

This is a great inspirational book, it is geared towards the graduate in your life; however, anyone can read this book and get hope and encouragement from it.  It is about starting your a new journey and living for GOD's purpose for you.  The pages are a great quality, colorful and organized so that you can read the topics you want or need to read.  This is a typical Max book where he tells a story and then gives scripture to back it up.  A very easy read that covers many topics in today's life and has GOD's word all through it.

I would recommend this especially for your graduate and anyone that wants or needs a good, quick reference of encouragement and inspiration for everyday way of living your life the way GOD intends you to.  It is filled with grace, love, understanding, meaning, direction and so much more for the journey of your life.

Sweetapolita Bakebook ~ Rosie Alyea

This is a fun book about cooking and decorating cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and a section of frostings.  It has very colorful pages and good photo instructions of how to do it.  It has a few special ideas of edible coloring on your baked goods, making your own sprinkles and making decorations of birthstone gems and many more.  I didn't feel this was a beginner book, the recipes are intermediate and advanced.  However, if you didn't put pressure on yourself to have the perfect outcome, I am sure you would be able to accomplish the outcome to look as it does in the book after a few tries.  Be aware these are not fast and quick projects, for the beginner, it will take at least an afternoon or more.

I would recommend this book if you are a baker and want to challenge yourself.  It does have some very interesting projects, but be prepared to really work at accomplishing the project.  I feel this is not for those that are beginners thinking they will have a wonderful looking cake within a few hours or less.  I am a beginner and really found this to be interesting and was willing to challenge myself, I thought it was cool to say "hey I made those sprinkles".

Chance of Loving You ~ Blackstock, Calvert, Warren

This is a book written by my favorite authors Terri Blackstock, Candice Calvert and Susan May Warren.  It is 3 different short stories from each author about different circumstances in a romance setting.  Each story has a meaning of GOD's love is not about you or your wants, it is about the grace you show each other.  I loved how each story grabbed me and kept me reading, they were short and easy to read in an afternoon setting or just a relaxing evening with a good book.

I would recommend this to my friends and especially if you love the authors, as I do, as usual they don't disappoint.  It is a great book if you just want to read something short, fun, entertaining and I would say it is a "chick" book, but if the men in your life like the author's don't discourage them from reading it.  I loved this type of book for a change of pace.

GOD, Me and Sweet Ice Tea ~ Rose Chandler Johnson

With this devotional Rose has the goal to bring you closer to GOD.  The way she has set up this book gives you many choices to accommodate your time and schedule.  Each days reading is very short, two to three pages (quickly read) and then she has included a page of journaling questions, suggested readings of the daily verse, prayer, prayer focus and a sweet tea moment (which is her way of summarizing what the verse is all about).

I would recommend this book to those that would like a relaxing, easy read that will start your day out with GOD and his word or you can end your day with GOD and his word.  It has many options for your daily life in a relaxing format.

The Legacy ~ Dan Walsh and Gary Smalley

As the last in the Restoration Series, this book is about Doug a young guy going through some tough issues of where he belongs in life.  Doug's parents and a friend, Christina, who is involved with the family because they took her in during her pregnancy while she needed help at the time.  Doug's family and Christina are trying to save Doug by showing the way of life through GOD's love and believing in HIS love for you.

I would recommend this book to those that have read the others in the series. As this would bring more of an understanding of the backgrounds to the characters. This story reminded me of a Karen Kingsbury type of series, that will wrap you into the family and leave you at the end of the book, wanting the next book now.  Good book if you like a read that is all about family and putting GOD first.

Enough Already ~ Barbara L. Roose

This is a wonderful, truthful book that all women should read and pass on to the younger women in their lives.  What a book about encouragement that made me smile at every chapter I read.  It tells about what the issues that you are thinking along with how other women are thinking  about the same things.  I couldn't believe as I read this book of how many times I said, I feel the same way this women does or I think the same things these women do... it was an eye opener that makes me just want to keep this book on my bedside table and read each morning. just to start my day out right.  I think Barbara should do a daily devotional based on this book, it would be awesome!

I recommend this book for all women to read.  What an outstanding look at today's world and how we put ourselves down for nothing.  It is a great book for doing a women's group because it has questions and journal questions at the end of each chapter.   LOVED THIS!!!

Touched by Heaven ~ Nancy Ravenhill

Nancy tells us the true story of her life stories of when Jesus comes to her.  She teaches us that Jesus is with us everyday even if you don't think HE is.  We all wonder why GOD lets things happen to us and in this book Nancy tells us why.  Each story tells how our downs in life are a way that GOD wants us to learn something and that HE is right beside us the whole way.  This is a great read that we have all felt what Nancy has felt.... where is GOD?  and HE will only show us that HE is walking with us, when we call out to HIM.

I recommend this book as a read for those that have doubt GOD is not walking with us.  It is also a great book for those that wonder how to pray as Nancy teaches that you must pray about everything and anything.  She also gives us a vision of how to realize Jesus is with you all the time, 24 hours a day.  This is a heartbreaking and meaningful book.

John Shaw's Guide to Digital Nature Photograpy ~ John Shaw

This is a good book on digital photography, it is not for the beginners like me, it is a book for those that have done some digital photos.  I have not taken any photos with a DSL so I am not familiar with the terms at all and I found this book to involve those terms.  It will be an easy if you are a little familiar with the terms and meanings,  you will be able to understand this book.  I loved the photos and the binding on this book, they are amazing and I was very interesting in reading the book because of the photos.  I kept asking myself, how did he get this awesome photo?  As I read the chapter, some I understood, while some was way over my head.

I would recommend this book to those that understand DSL digital cameras and the terminology.  If you are a beginner this is not a 101 digital camera photo book, make sure you understand the terms.  However, the photos and style are enough to enjoy without wanting to learn about digital photography.
