Cradle my Heart ~ Kim Ketola

This is a true story of Kim Ketola and other christian women that have had abortions and now living with the guilt, sorrow, pain and thinking GOD will never forgive them. The book explains each story of what the women feel and how to get foregiveness from GOD.

It explains the following steps to go through to help deal with the pain that follows the issue of abortion:  Dealing with GOD, Forgiveness, Repentance, Greiving, Surviving, helping others get through their emotions after an abortion.

This is a very strong topic and I would only recommend to the ages of 16 and above, this is not a kid or tweens book, it deals with a very emotional subject and if a teenager is reading this they should be supported by an adult who is available to discuss issues in this book.

The Choice ~ Robert Whitlow

This is the story of  Sandy who as a pregnant teenager makes the choice to give the baby up for adoption, even after the father of the child tries to force her to have an abortion.   Sandy has to make the choice for her baby to be able to live and given up for adoption.  She is forced to leave home as the school will not allow her to attend her senior year being pregnant.  She is shipped off to live with her aunt, go to a reform school through her pregnancy.  When giving birth to twins she has to make the hardest choice of all adoption, does she have them go to the same family or split them up to seperate families?

Later in life she is in a situation of helping a pregnant teen age girl, that when she steps in to help is forced to make another heart wrenching choice.  The solutions she comes up with are filled with twists and turns, you can't put it down.  I can't really tell you about this part of the story as it will spoil it for those that want to read it.  I can say that it will bring closure to the first half of the story with much emotion, adventure and suspense as to where Robert is taking the characters, just when you think you know what is going to happen it is not the way the story is going.  Yes, I did guess on one part of the story, but when I thought I knew where it was going I was wrong.  This is a very heartfelt story from begining to end.

I truly enjoyed this book, I could not put it down, be warned ***once you start you will not want to put down until you are finished, very addicting story****

Men of Sunday ~ Curtis Eichelberger

This book is all about the NFL players, coaches, team owners and families.  It tells of what we all wonder about, what goes on behind the scenes, in the locker rooms on Sunday morning and afternoon when most of us are at church, going to lunch with families then go home and watch the games.  It speaks of how some teams have their own pastors to minister to the players, employees and families.  It tells of how different people go through difficult situation because of their religious beliefs and what society doesn't agree with.  It was interesting to know that Christian's that are involved in the NFL can still have Sunday worship in the morning and then play the game in the afternoon.  Most of us believe that the NFL is all about tailgating, beer drinking and playing football, but in this book it gives a different look at the players that choose to, do have a relationship with GOD.  Read this book to know what the media doesn't show us.

I did find this book interesting but it was hard to keep my interest through some parts of the book.  I would recommend this to any football fan, as I believe it will hold their interest more then mine.  I am not an avid fan, but my husband is and I know he would enjoy this book, it would be a great gift to give to your football fan.

A Sudden Glory ~ Sharon Jaynes

Sharon helps all women with the busy schedule and in today world the feeling that we are not doing what our purpose in life is.  Women struggle to feelings of what am I suppose to be doing for GOD why am I not doing it?  This book is all about understanding it is ok to stop, be still and listen.  Sharon guides you through knowing that it is not about what GOD wants you to do but it is all about what GOD wants for you!  It is written in chapters with scripture as back up and questions to guide you through think in a different way of the way GOD wants you to be.

I enjoyed this book very much, it was such a great insight and the scripture that backs up her theory was so helpful.  Each chapter was a different subject that has great points and made you think that it is ok to just do nothing and listen.  Sometimes that is how GOD is speaking to you and he wants your undivided attention of quiet and stillness.  I would recommend this to women that really want to say it is ok to do nothing and stop being so busy in this world.

Live to Give ~ Austin Gutwein

EXCELLENT READ !!!

This book is told by a teenager that has learned the lesson of life and is willing to share with all of us.  Austin tells of how the theory of a lunch box, makes you see how your own life is based on GOD's gifts he has given you and how you are able to find them -- his explanation of the theory is very simple and easy to understand.

Think about packing your lunch or ordering your lunch, each day when you eat lunch do others pack or eat the very same things as you?  No everyone will pack different things and if eating out they will order different then you.  That is how we have to look at ourselves and how GOD wants us to be, all different.  If we all packed the same exact lunch then we would not accomplish what GOD has planned us to be.  This is such a great theory and a way to remember we all need to use our different gifts we have and not wish we had the gifts that GOD has given to others. Austin explains how people seem to want to have what other bring in their lunch boxes and not liking what we have in ours own boxes... why is that?  Let's use what GOD has packed in our lunch boxes.

Austin uses the bible story of the little boy, a loaf of bread and feeding 5,000 people along with the story of how he (Austin) has used his giving to help the children in Zambia.  This book has many examples of bible stories and verses as references.

Each Chapter is a short read and has questions at the end for you to use as a personal study, group study or a Sunday School class.

I would recommend this book to everyone to read, it is a great and easy read.  I would suggest read thought this book once and then read it again, at a slow pace and really think and answer the questions at the end of each chapter.

Starring me ~ Krista McGee

This is a teen book, that is a fun read for us older folks.  I read this book on a Sunday afternoon, it was a good fluffy summer read.  If you have read First Date then this is a continuation of that book, if you haven't, don't worry you can still read this book and know everything that is going on.

The story is of Kara a teen girl that is chosen to audition in Orlando, FL for a month to be on a new TV show starring with a teen age heartthrob.  She doesn't know who the co-star is and it is kept a secret, she has to deal with living with 9 other teenage girls and Flora the house mother, aka... the housekeeper of the family of the co-star who want a christian girl to co-star with him.  The book goes through friendship, relationships, family and having a relationship with GOD.  It is a fun book that we can all really predict the ending, but it was fun to read on a hot summer afternoon.   It is a story that is relating to the bible story of Isaac and Rebekah, Genesis 24........there are reading group questions at the end of the book and this would be a great book to read at a teen book club.

Mondays with my Old Pastor ~ Jose Luis Navajo

This is the true story of Jose a pastor who is burnt out of the ministry and ready to call it quits on the church and all the needs of everyone.  When he is going to leave his wife suggests that he call his old pastor and go talk with him.  The pastor and his wife are now retired and have moved to the country away from everyone and have a very quiet home to be only with GOD.

Jose starts one visit and then continues each Monday meeting with the pastor as they talk about their lives and how the past was, GOD works on Jose's heart and soon he realizes that his passion and knowledge is just the plan GOD has for his life.

This is a great book for everyone to read, each chapter covers a different emotion, it is told as a story each chapter is a Monday meeting.  It makes you think and know that everyone goes through the same set of emotions, even pastor, church leaders and the congregation.... This book is a wonderful and very enjoyable read.

The book goes through 15 principles to live in life, I just wish it had bible verses to back up each principle.  I felt this book was missing the bible back up that other books I have read have included in each lesson.
