This book is a Christian Historical Fiction that takes place in 1952 during the great depression era. It is the story of Bertha Harding and her dreams of baseball. She wants to be a part of the American Baseball League, not what women during this time are supposed to be doing. When her family is accused of be part of the Communist Party, it forces them to change their lives. Bertha is so determined that she stays strong and true to her love of baseball. Will she be able to fill her American dream? Will her family survive being the center of rumors and non-true accusations?
If you like to read a book that will have you turning the pages then this is the book for you. It deals with society issues and how one women decides to put aside what everyone is saying. I am not a hard fan of baseball, however, I loved this book. If you love reading a book that is heartfelt, about not giving up, and family values, then read this book.
