Redeeming Love ~ Francine Rivers

LOVE THIS BOOK!!  God is all over this book.  From the minute I picked it up I could not put it down until I finished it.  I am an avid fan of Francine Rivers and this has to be my favorite from her.
This is the story of unconditional love between a husband and wife.  The story of Angel, who was sold into prostitution and has felt nothing but hurt from men.  Michael is a farmer and Godly man, he is called from GOD to marry Angel and does.  Angel does not understand his love and feels he is only nice to her because he wants something.  Michael will not give into her hatefulness and heartache that her actions cause him.  You will laugh, cry, hate Angel, feel sorry for Michael, wonder why does Michael put up with Angel, pray and not want to put this down to the very end.  Between the two characters you will be thinking of your own circumstances that you have gone through with GOD and makes you think.

This book is based on the book of the bible Hosea.  I guarantee when you get done, or even before that you will be intrigued to read this book in the bible.  The book also includes a six part reading study in the back of the book, you can do this in a group or by yourself.  I recommend this book to everyone!!  READ THIS ONE you will wish you had read this a long time ago.

confessiona of a raging perfectionist ~ Amanda Jenkins

This is a great book that I really felt connected to.  It is told in a diary format by different subjects that women deal with on a daily basis.  Amanda is a perfectionist and always listing out her daily to do list, when not achieving everything on the list she feels like a failure.  Sound familiar?  It does to me, that is why I connected to this book, once I started reading I couldn't put down.  Each chapter describes a subject such as vanity, money, parenthood, pride, testimony and much more.

Amanda explains how she expects so much from herself, then tells how to use GOD's word to stop being so hard on yourself and enjoy what GOD gives you from each day.  It is a great read and easy to understand that GOD doesn't want you to be perfect and make a list each day, he just wants you to enjoy his blessings.  The set up of this book is very easy to read from cover to cover or you can just pick it up and read a chapter that you feel you want to read, that is the great set up of this book.

I recommend this to women of all ages, read this book.  I loved it and felt wow it really is ok to stop and enjoy the day and not to have to do everything on the list.  Perfection is not in GOD's plan for anyone, he wants you to learn and be on his journey with HIM.

Nearing Home ~ Billy Graham

This book is about growing old and preparing for your life in your senior years.  Billy Graham tells about his life experiences and how GOD is using us each day in life for when we meet him in the end.  It also has the Graham touch and explains that if you have not accepted Christ it is never too late and tells how to become saved.  He uses scripture all through the book and his own life feelings to give examples of what GOD does in life.  Billy talks about preparing for the end, by being sure you have a will, your investments, dealing with death of loved ones, when is really the right time for you to retire, making amends with those that have hurt you and many other situations that you deal with in your senior years.

I would recommend this book to be read by anyone that is 45 years and above.  I think anyone can read this book but the younger people may not feel as connected as the older people may.  I was enlightened by the way Billy Graham spoke and became aware of how to think of things in a different way and understand the way that GOD wants you to deal with everyday ups and downs.  Makes you realize that life is really short and you need to prepare now.

The Dog that Talked to GOD ~ Jim Kraus

The story of Mary, a recent widow and Rufus the dog that becomes her companion and sounding board from GOD.  Mary is going through a very difficult time of her husband and son being killed in a tragic car accident.  As she gets Rufus she starts to realize how much in life you consider material and self centered issues and what is really the purpose of what GOD wants for you.   When Mary and Rufus go for walks, that is when she talks to Rufus and then one day and everyday after Rufus starts to answer her back, sometimes he will even ask her questions. that leaves Mary to face reality.  It made me smile, as a dog person you sometimes in life look at your own dog and wonder what they are thinking.  This book gives a take on what they are thinking, many times I have made my own mind up as to what they are thinking, but this story puts it into perspective.

I would recommend this delightful book, it is different and so enjoying.  If you are a dog lover, you will LOVE this book and if you are not a dog lover you will get a whole new insight on dogs, GODS creations and maybe become a dog lover.   Everyone should read this book.

Bread & Wine ~ Shauna Niequist

This is a fun book that entitles short stories and a recipe at the end of each story.  It is a book that you will want to share with friends and family, exactly what the author wants.   Each story is about sharing memories with your family and loved ones.  The author suggests that you first read through each story and then try the recipe for your family or friends and while eating talk about the story in the book that goes with the dish you just cooked.  All recipes are easy to do and the ingredients they require can be found in any grocery store.  Meals in the book are healthy and can be made into anyone's special dietary needs.

I really enjoyed this book and plan to get copies for those that love to cook and entertain.  I even think my friends that don't like to cook, would enjoy this book and it will encourage them to start.

I love the whole idea that the author is trying to get us to do with this book.   Let's get family, friends and memories back to when everyone sat around laughed and enjoyed each other for an evening.

Joni & Ken an Untold Love Story ~ Ken & Jonie Eareckson Tada w/ Larry Libby

What a Love story it is... Joni is a quadriplegic due to a diving accident at the age of 17 and has been serving the LORD with everything she does.  Ken is her  husband and a man who is doing the LORD's work with Joni.  Joni writes about her diving accident, chronic pain, cancer and her love for the LORD.  Ken tells about his depression, his love for his wife and the LORD's mission he endures everyday.  You might think this book will be heavy and filled with fluffy drama, you will be mistaken.  This is a love story of two people on a mission to serve GOD the way he wants them to do the work for him.  It is a light read that is uplifting and makes you smile.  It covers the hard days that Joni and Ken go through of the daily routines, but the hard times are the heart of this story.  Joni, being in the media, famous and always being in the eye of the public to have a happy and Godly life has bad days and bad times.   This book has GOD written all over it.  This is the story that love is all about, through sickness and health, richer or poorer, till death do you part and it truly does show what marriage is all about when you stay true to what GOD has put on you to do with your life for him.

I loved this book and when I finished, I wanted to give it to my husband and make him read it.  It is what life is all about we all go through daily trials and tribulations, and this book really hits home as to why we are here on earth.   I recommend this short read to everyone!!  You will not be let down of the story of this book.
