The Good, the Bad, and the Grace of God ~ Jep & Jessica Robinson

This is the story of Jep and Jessica Robertson from Duck Dynasty. It is truly all about what the title says.  It tells of all the trials and tribulations that they have had to face before they met and even after they were married.  I was amazed at the honesty in this book.  Jessica talks about self image, divorce and many other issues that you wouldn't expect. Jep covers his addiction, pornography and harassment. Both talk about salvation, faith, family and GOD.

I recommend this book to everyone, it is the most honest and open story about their lives.  You will be surprised at the subjects talked about in this book.  If you are a Duck Dynasty fan, this will amaze you and is a must read.  It is a good, fast read because it flows so well.

Two Roads Home ~ Deborah Raney

This is book #2 in the Chicory Lane series and better then #1.  The story continues on with Corinne and Jess making some difficult choices when Jess gets accused of sexual harassment from a female co-worker.  Full of mystery and a good page turner, you will not be able to put this down.  This is about family values and making changes in your life when you get thrown a curve ball.  Sometimes you have to realize that family is all you have and need when life's difficult situations happen.

I would recommend this to those that like a book that keeps you on your toes and guessing until the end.  It will make you feel as if you know the characters.  It makes you think how you can relate. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait until book #3.  You will not need to read book #1 to read this book.  However, be warned, if you read #2 you will want to go back and read #1 just because you want to know more about this family.  Great read and will draw you in.

Summers List ~ Anita Higman

This book is not what you expect it to be, it is better!  If you think this is your typical summer romance read you are wrong.  If you want a story about friendship, family and forgiveness then this is what you want to read.  When Summer and Martin rekindle their friendship after 20 years of not seeing each other, you think they will just fall in love and that will be the whole book. This is far from what you are thinking, the book has lots of twist and turns and has a few different relationships going on that will all tie in together.

I would recommend this book to all those that want a book to keep you reading until you finish.  If you want a story that is not predictable and will shift gears at the last minute to keep you guessing what will happen next this is the book for you.  I really enjoyed the story and how it will drag you into feeling for all the characters.  It is a great book to take to the beach, camping or just sitting in your chair for an afternoon of reading.

Five Years in Heaven ~ John Schlimm

This is a story about friendship between a 31 year old man and an 87 year old nun.  When they meet and keep up the friendship, it is a friendship that grows into the nun becoming a mentor about life.

This was a hard book for me to keep interested in as I felt it was too long and should have been edited to a smaller version book.  I think if it had less very detailed descriptions that I would have really enjoyed it.  I feel I could have gotten more out of this story if while I was reading I was thinking please hurry up and get to the point, the chapters seemed to drag on.   I did like the thoughts and theme of the story.

I would recommend this to those that don't mind a slow paced, very descriptive story.  The subject interested me, the author's type of writing was not for me.  This is a story about a very special friendship, the one that everyone hopes to experience in life.

The Midwife's Tale ~ Delia Parr

This is book #1 in the At home in trinity series.  The series is about Martha the midwife in a small town called Trinity (Pennsylvania) and how she is there to help all the people of her small community.  Her world is suddenly turned upside down due to many issues in her life.  She is struggling with her children, career and the people that she felt loved her for who she is and would never cause her pain.  She soon is tested to keep her faith in GOD and needs to work through all the trials and tribulations.

I wasn't that excited with this book as I thought I was going to be.  It was a little slow for my reading, however, I was able to finish to the end.  I didn't like how it left a lot of things unclear, forcing you to get book #2 for clarification and closer.

As water gone by ~ Cynthia Ruchti

This is a book about hope, grace, forgiveness and so much more.  Based on the bible verse Job 11:16, you will understand the title of the book.  Emmalyn moves to Madeline Island to work on herself and what GOD really has in store for her life. Her husband is in jail and had said some terrible things to her about their lives together.  The island life gives Emmalyn hope for a future... a happy future, as she is forced to think about her feelings.

The story is one that will get you emotionally involved to make you ask yourself what would you do?  Would you be able to have forgiveness and move on to what GOD really wants you to do?  There are many different characters in the book that makes you want to know all of their stories.

I would recommend this book to all those that want a story with a deep meaning and to make you think.  It would be a great book club book as it does have discussion questions in the back.

Once Upon a Summertime ~ Melody Carlson

As a fan of Melody Carlson books, this is book #1 in her follow your heart series.  This is a typical Melody book about romance between a young women's career and her love life.  The story takes Anna out of a small town, non-value hotel to an upscale New York hotel to work for the summer.  The story flows and is in great detail to make you feel as you are right in the city with her.  The characters are very real and tug at your heart to make you have feelings for them, you want to know what is going to happen to them.

This is a fun, easy and great summer's day read.  It is light hearted and makes you feel good after you read it.  I would recommend this as a "chic" read and could be a hallmark movie of the week.

The case of the Sin City Sister ~ Lynne Hinton

This is Book # 2 in the Divine Private Detective Agency Mystery series.  I did not read book #1 but had no problem picking up the story in book #2.  This is a good, fun mystery read that keeps you reading until the end.  The main character is Sister Eve, a nun that has left the convent to join her dad, a private investigator, to solve a case in Las Vegas.  The story line has many characters and interesting plots to keep you wanting more.

I would recommend this as a great read for those that want a story to keep them guessing until the end and not be predictable.  I really enjoyed this change of pace in a storyline that blends all different types of people in a world of sin to make you wonder where this will all lead to.  Good afternoon or relaxing evening read.
