The Sacred Year ~ Michael Yankoski

Michael Yankoski, a man of faith, motivational speaker and a very busy schedule.  This is his story of how he decides that he needs to change his life and goes to a monastery for a monastery after his stay he realizes that for the next year he is going practice what he learns.  The book contains the stories and challenges that he faces within the year.  Michael talks about how a simple apple has a deeper meaning, living on $2.00 a day can be done on a very simple schedule and that you can appreciate people by saying thanks to them (by writing thank you notes and cards) this will give you grace for living.

I would recommend this for someone that enjoys a heavy long read.  I felt the book could have been shorter and a little more easier to read.  It was hard for me to stay focused as it seemed to keep going on and on.  I enjoyed the message but not the very many details it takes to getting it. This is not a bad book, I like the thought and feeling behind it, however; this is not my type of read.  I was excited by the cover and description, but let down by the extended detail of the book contents.

Hidden in the Stars ~ Robin Carroll (Quilts of Love Series)

This book is part of the Quilts of Love Series and is my favorite so far.  This is a murder/mystery that you will not be able to put down.  I started one afternoon and couldn't stop reading until I was finished.  From page one to the end, this is a page turning thriller.

It is a story of a Olympic gymnast's, Sophia on her way to start training with her Olympic team.  Sophia stops to visit her mom and next thing she knows she is in a hospital unable to speak and will never be able to do gymnastics again.  Julian is a detective that is assigned to handle the case and find out who has hurt Sophia and killed her mom.  As in all the quilt series books it does involve a quilt that holds the key to who has murdered and how it will bring Sophie to find love, forgiveness and family.

I would recommend this book to everyone that loves a good suspense and mystery that is not solved to the end.  I loved this book!

Joyful ~ Shelley Shepard Gray

This is book 3 of the Amish Return to Sugarcreek series.  The main story is about Elizabeth and Randall, young Amish adults, both trying to keep their families together.  Elizabeth has lost a lot through her young life and just wants to take care of her grandmother.  Randall has also lost a lot through his life and just wants to keep his younger brothers and sister together as one family.  The story is heartfelt and shows us that GOD will guide you through life and bring you joy if you let him.  We also meet two other families in the book, one who is a foster family and one that is going through single life and a business.  It all comes down to how you can be joyful, no matter what happens in your life, stay strong and hold on to GOD.  HE will show you that joy and happiness all you need to do is believe.

I would recommend this as a light read and if you are an Amish fan, then you will enjoy this book.  I enjoyed it as an easy relaxing read.

Home to Chicory Lane ~ Deborah Raney

A book about family, values and to see the blessings that GOD has given you.  Audrey and Grant Whitman have finally been given the opportunity to turn their home into a bed and breakfast as all five children are now out on their own.  As the book starts it is opening day at the Inn and their friends and family all have gathered to be apart of the happy day.  Landyn, the youngest daughter show's up with all her belongings and as a newlywed, no husband with her.  This is where the adventure and mystery begins.  This not the only story line, Audrey and Grant realize how much work this Inn is and how much they need to rely on GOD to get through all these tough times.

I would recommend this story to everyone, it is filled with love, romance, suspense and GOD's grace.  A great read with a great meaning behind it.  You will become attached to this family and it will leave you wanting to read more..... can't wait for book two.

Strangers at my door ~ Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove

Exceptional couple is the least you could say about this couple, Jonathan and Leah Wilson-Hartgrove.  They move to Durham, NC and decided to open their home to all those that need food and shelter.  This book is about many different people, many different stories and the most encouraging about man kind and their love for Jesus. This couple invited anyone in and they never knew what they were going to get.  This was an inspirational story of the real love that Jesus wants us all to share.

I would recommend this book for everyone to read!  What an amazing couple that didn't let fear, money or judgement get in the way of loving like Jesus loves us.

The Pink Bible ~ Zondervan

This bible is the NIV version as a thin line bible it is very small and easy to carry any place.  I thought the theme of pink bible relating to breast cancer would have more information and inspiration towards the subject.  It only has 9 added pages, with very simple and could be easily used in any other special subject bibles.  I do love the pink color, leather cover.

I was very disappointed with this bible, I thought it was going to be so much more.  I wish they had put a few daily devotionals it each bible book and a few encouraging verses in beginning of each book.  I just think so much more could have been done to really make this a great bible.  I would always recommend anyone to buy, give as a gift and read the bible.  I would not go out of my way to buy this for the sole reason thinking it is a really special gift bible about breast cancer.

A Grand Design ~ Amber Stockton

This book is another of the Quilt Series and again it is a good, fun read. I enjoyed reading this story it is about two friends that take a unexpected vacation because they won the trip from a drawing.  The trip is to Mackinac Island and just where Alyssa the main character of the story has grown up.  As the friends go to the island their adventure begins when the meet two handsome single men that work and live on the island.  The story has romance, mystery from one of the friends pasts and keeps you wondering how this will end up.

I would recommend this book to women, I have read a lot of the Quilt series books and they always have kept my attention and interest.  I really enjoyed this short read, it is one of those books you read when you just want to relax and enjoy.
