The Pirate Queen ~ Patricia Hickman

Sophora is a very educated and rich woman, she is married to Bender who is a doctor and a very unfaithful husband. Fed up with life and feeling depressed she decides she is going to run off to their Orient home on the river. As she has her stuff packed and ready to walk out the door, Bender appears at home and tells her he is dying of brain cancer. He says he wants to die at the Orient home and they are moving there. Sophora and Bender move to Orient. Their children make several visits with the grandkids and try to keep Bender comfortable. The story has other characters: one neighbor that digs holes in his backyard every night after dark and the kid next door (who is HIV positive) starts to hang out at the cottage with the family. The story is about learning to forgive, pray for everything, be very humble in every situation and the biggest lesson is love everyone no matter what they do to you because God is always with you and has a purpose for everything that happens.

The title of this book, is the true meaning of the story as you will have to read it to understand what I mean. (I can't tell you everything and I don't want to spoil it for anyone.) I would recommend this book to everyone, as it has the true meaning of how to show your love, how to give unconditional love and how God is in control of everything. It makes you realize it all belongs to God.

Then Sings My Soul Special Edition ~ Robert Morgan

This book is a devotional, educational and a great reference book all in one. It contains 150 Hymns that we have all loved and sung at one time in our lives. Covering the Holidays such as: Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Patriotic, and many other hymns. Each hymn has the lyrics on one page and then the testimonies / history of the hymn on the other side. It contains the hymn number and the bible verse the hymn comes from.

You can use this as a devotional and read each one per day. I couldn’t put the book down and read it cover to cover and now plan to go back through and take it all in slowly. The history of each hymn is so well written that is makes you stop and think about what you are singing in a new and inspirational way. The testimonies are so easy to follow that you will be able to use this as a teaching tool or a great conversation piece. I would suggest this book as a great gift book, especially if the person is a music lover, but I really think anyone will enjoy this book and all it has to offer. This edition has a wonderful French flap soft cover, special ivy paper, jagged edge paper and much more.

Two Tickets to the Christmas Ball ~ Donita K Paul

This is a fun and short holiday read. I read this in an afternoon, it is a good short story. The book is about 2 people that have worked together for 5 years and sit at desks beside each other. They have never noticed each other until one afternoon as they are shopping in a little bookstore; they speak to each other.

They both receive mysterious tickets to a Wizard's Ball and the story is about should they go together? They get to know each other and how they both have family members that they have to deal with. This is a very mysterious story that keeps you reading because you have to figure out what this Ball is all about.

It is a book that I would recommend if you want a fun, fluffy read, it keeps your attention by having alot of story plot and changes. This book has a great moral that GOD is in control and he loves all his people no matter how they act in life.

A Rush of Wings ~ Kristen Heitzmann

This is the story of Noelle a 23 year old well rich girl that lives in NY, her dad is a well known lawyer in a very upscale NY law firm, and a fiance that is her father's assistant. The book starts off with Noelle on a bus headed as far from NY as she can get, she ends up in the mountains renting a room on a ranch. The Ranch is owned by Rick, a very low key, Christian man who no matter what puts God first in every situation. Then there is Morgan, Rick's brother, who is very well off and travels all over the country for his job. Both men fall in love with Noelle, but this is not a sappy love triangle.

The story has many twists and turns, it has Rick trying to give the salavation plan to Noelle, Morgan trying to date Noelle, Noelle trying to keep her NY life private and the secrets of her past out of her life, her dad trying to find her and make her realize she needs to come back to NY and her fiance is looking for her and wants her back so that he can marry into the family for her riches and lavious life for his needs only.

This book has great twists and turns, just when you think you have it figured out and you know what is going to happen, hold on to your hat a twist happens and the story is turned upside down. It is a great page turner to the very end. I would recomend this book.

Unlocked ~ Karen Kingsbury

this is a book about Ella and Holden, both High School seniors and they become good friends. Holden has autism and is in special classes until Ella becomes involved with him and seeks to help with his condition. This book also has the issue of bulling by the football team and deals with Ella trying to stop the bullying but realizes if she tells anyone it will make things worse.

I would recommend this book to everyone, it was a good read and I read it in 2 days, once I got in the middle of the story I couldn't put it down as I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen.

Her Daughter's Dream #2 ~ Francine Rivers

This is the continuation to Her Mother's Hope. This is the story of a mother, daughter and grandmother having a relationship that works and does not work. The book is continued directly from the first one and ties in nicely from the family meanings and why everything has happend with these women.

I read this book in a day, I could not put it down. This is a must read for everyone.

Blind Hope ~ Kim Meder & Laurie Sacher

This is the story of Laurie and a dog that was in desperate need for a home. Laurie adopts the dog and the adventure begins. Laurie tells about how she was not in love with this dog and wanted to back out of the adoption, but she felt God was telling her to give this dog a new home. She takes the dog home, shows it love and renames her Mia meaning "my little girl" in Spanish. Mia has medical problems and becomes blind. Laurie tells us of her and Mia's experiences; and how God has everything under His control and shows her the love he has for her and Mia being together.

This is a story that is very meaningful and heart warming. I would recommend this book to everyone, it is an easy read and is for all ages. Great writing and a story that leaves you with a great feeling. This book is all about compassion and having God be in control of your life.
